About us

The West Greece Airclub is a non-profit organization, whose founders are elite pilots at Hellenic Air Force. It is a registered association at the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and recognized air sport club from the Greek Air Sports Federation. Its purpose is the development of aviation culture and familiarize people with the art of flying, the flight instruction for acquiring pilot licenses, the development of tourism in the area of northwest Greece and entertainment flying in Greece. In 2011, a municipal land was mandated in Agia Paraskevi of Arta area to construct airport for our aeroclub, from Nikolaos Skoufas Municipality and in 2013 the project was funded from Epirus region. In 2014, with a number of projects through Epirus region, the contribution of the construction company Terna and funding from the board of the aeroclub, the airport Arachthos, named after Captain (I) Anastasios Balatsoukas, was completed and licensed, giving honor to the unlucky pilot from Arta who lost his life in F-16 aircraft, when it collided in the air with another aircraft during an air mission.
